In the beginning, it was easy for me to open car trunks for loot and investigate every alley, but as you get deeper into it the zombies get tougher. And trust me, developing a strategy is going to be key to succeeding in Dead Nation. Together, we were able to sweep through levels and take out zombies the way each of us wanted as well as develop strategies around our collective arsenal.

When I played through with my friend - the game supports co-op of the offline and online varieties - I just poured my money into maxing out the weapons I had while he experimented with the flamethrower and landmines. Developing your character to suit your play style is where Dead Nation really shines. You equip the armor at safehouses to build your character out as a heavy hitter or fleet-footed friend, and the gold can be exchanged for new weapons as well as upgrades - do you really want that electricity-shooting cannon or should you focus on making your submachine gun fire fast and carry more rounds? The choice is yours. Special armor pieces and gold are hidden all over the levels. If you wanted to, you could try and sprint through levels to get to the safehouses, but you'd miss all the loot. Each chapter is broken up into checkpoints. It's all about turning the undead back into lifeless corpses, but it actually involves a lot of planning and strategy.
Play Dead Nation isn't quite your typical zombie shooter.
